Special Memories To Share from March 2017

Lily Rucker 2/24 There are so many things that our handicapped daughter isn't able to do with us normally. This week, we were able to do everything together as a family! It was so overwhelmingly special! We will cherish that FOREVER! Also, the volunteers- their loving, giving hearts, kind words, and how special they made us feel!!! We cannot thank you enough for the week you just gave us- the memories and feelings will last a lifetime!

Gabe Graber 2/26 - It was awesome & while our family seemed chaotic at times, we had more meaningful conversations sitting at the tables together over meals than any other time on our trip. At home we are always busy grabbing something for someone that we rarely get to talk so having extra hands to help our kids get their food made it possible for us to actually talk to our kids. We ate there 2x every day because it was so much more convenient that eating out.

Landon Kimmich 2/27 - Our child was very shy, but Mayor Clayton was so patient with him. The extra caring brought tears to my eyes. Wonderful memories

Druegan Yuskis 2/28 - This was such a special ride since our son is wheelchair bound and has never been able to go on a ride, it was so much fun letting him go on his first carousel ride! Thank you for making it wheelchair accessible!!

Corey Chandler 3/11 - I think my favorite touch was the name "Chandler" on the bunny to announce Corey's home for the week! For the first time, Corey was able to roll onto a swing in his wheelchair. He loved the back and forth movement! It was a wonderful experience for him

Lily Pilon 3/5 - : It is hard to decide what we enjoyed most about our experience. Everything was great. I would say our time spent at the village was our favorite time. It was nice being able to spend family time together and not have any worries for a change.

Lucie Moore 3/2 - Welcome home every time we came back we loved that. We still say this now since being back in Illinois. Everyone was just so kind and fun. The girls enjoyed Give kids the world the most out of everything. The loving overall acceptance of everyone. When there was a meltdown or a seizure we didn't get the "looks" or glares like in everyday public. We just were accepted and LOVED. This is something special needs families appreciated so much. Sitting in the dining hall with Lucie she looked around with smiles and said "mom look I'm a normal kids just like everyone else". That was the magic moment. Thank you go giving her that and for allowing us to be a part of it.

Maddox Balos 3/3 - Being at the village was the best part! A lot of times at theme parks the kids would ask to come back to the village to swim and hang out!

Sage Baker 3/3 - Everything! The staff was friendly everywhere we went. It was extremely relaxing. The events at the village were so much fun, convenient, and laid back that we only ventured out to the other parks 2 days of the week...and we don't regret it at all.

Connor Chappell 3/11 - My boys got closer as a result of their shared experiences. So often at home they go their separate ways for activities. Here, they did everything together. It was amazing how everyone included my other son and he got as much attention as my Wish child. My other son misses out on as much as his brother so it was great to be able to do Halloween and meet Santa and do all the things they missed all year. Thank you!!

Jackson Henry 3/9 - The atmosphere. We are used to rushing to work, school, doctors, dinner, that we never get time to just stop. Our son is 7 and this is our first vacation. This trip has changed us. We are now looking to relocate and enjoy our family time together instead of rushing it away.

Thane Buslaff 3/11 - The small memories from the amazing staff, to every time we returned to the Village we were greeted with a "Welcome Home". We loved the star on the ceiling and the pillows. The atmosphere at the village was so refreshing. We were tired every day when we got back, but there was a fun and calmness to the village that made you recharge and just want to have fun and do everything there that you could. It all felt so sincere and it brings tears to my eyes just to write this and remember all the great memories we made that week.

Madison Johnson 3/11 - Mama Merry's Pizzeria - My older kids had pizza delivered almost every night. Great service. Wonderful option.

Will Smit 3/11 - Fantastic volunteers and staff. The volunteers were so knowledgeable (both the long-term and "one week" volunteers) that it was hard to believe they didn't work at GKTW full-time.

Andres Comejo – 3/16 - Honestly, what we enjoyed the most was seeing how happy our kids were. From accommodations, the kindness of the staff, to the toys that the kids received. It was obvious that your organization will do anything to put a smile on our child's faces.

Olivia Cosic 3/17 - The inspiring kindness and compassion of the volunteers working there. All the smiles and warm hugs our daughter would get. Feeling like a normal family. Being taken care of. The music (from Matthews Playground) that was right outside our villa. The amazing pizza! The breakfast cart! Seeing our daughter be included and able to join in on the fun, whether it was the awesome rides or the village parties. Thank you for everything. We will miss the vill4 very much

Bella Gutierrez 3/15 - That everything was taken care of. I did not have to worry about anything. We could relax and enjoy time together and not have to think about doctors or surgeries. Our daughter is gtube fed and at the village she ate so much, she has never ate more than a few bites at any one time. But at the village, she was eating everything.

Connor Memmott 1/23 - The Mayor tuck-in crew was outstanding, I cry just thinking about that night. They stayed longer than I'm sure they usually do. My son sleeps with his Bunny in his Magic Pillow that the Mayor autographed for him every night. It is precious to him.

Mason Bernhard 3/18 - Everything was FREE. It was wonderful to not have to place limitations on fun due to the cost for this one magical week. We are so grateful for the experience and we were very sad to leave
