Magical surprises are part of everyday life at Give Kids The World Village, whether it’s a surprise birthday party for Mayor Clayton or a visit from Santa. Still, wish father Jerome France had no idea when he came to the Village for Josalynn’s wish trip that he was in for the biggest surprise of all – he was going to get married. The surprise started months before their journey when wish mother, Pamela, asked about having their wedding at the Village. One of GKTW’s amazing Entertainment Coordinators, Mary Edwards, contacted the family and planning quickly got underway.
After the family arrived with Josalynn and her soon-to-be stepsiblings in tow, Pamela let Jerome in on the surprise and he was shocked! They immediately went to the courthouse to get their marriage license. But, Jerome still didn’t know all his friends and family would be present for the event. Pulling off a surprise this large was no simple task, but Pamela knew it would be an unforgettable memory for them. When the family appeared for his big day, he couldn’t believe his eyes. “Jerome was so surprised. The look on his face and the tears were well worth all the secrets I told to pull that day off,” remembered Pamela.
Just when he thought he knew everything, there was still one more revelation that Pamela and the kids had in store for Jerome – the color of her wedding dress. All week, the children teased about a black wedding dress, so when Pamela walked down the aisle in her white dress he was surprised all over again.
This meaningful day would not have been possible without the generous vendors who donated their services to make this the wedding of Jerome and Pamela’s dreams. Wedding Planner Jessie MacDonald helped make the day extraordinary from start to finish with the help of assistants Jennifer LeHane, Laura Sisken, Julie Lewis, Jessica Hawthorne, Jessica Wright and Michelle Jenkins. Hair and makeup were provided by Amanda Wolf and the wedding party’s shoes were donated by Maks Occasions. The bride pulled up to the ceremony in a horse and carriage guided by Larry Spain. Chaplain Jefferson Cox led the ceremony while Videographer John Russell and Photographer Allan Saltman captured the magical memories on film. The beautiful flowers were provided by Winter Park Florist and Kissimmee Florist. At the reception, guests danced to music from DJ Joseph Marolis of Elegant Entertainment DJ and Video Services, and enjoyed the wedding cake provided by Michelle Jenkins.
“The kids were so excited to finally be a real family now. I knew my surprise would be an epic one,” said Pamela.
GKTW was honored to be a part of this special day and wishes the family a lifetime of happiness.
