A Grandmother’s Message of Thanks

We often hear from alumni wish families telling us how much they enjoyed their stay at Give Kids The World. This Thank You comes from wish Grandmother, Janet.

Dear GKTW,

It is our family who are grateful for Give Kids The World Village. We learned of this amazing place through our handsome two-year-old grandson, Carson.

After his devastating diagnosis of Leukemia, my daughter and I arrived at the hospital to begin his treatment. When I saw him armed with his Diego backpack filled with his favorite toys I thought my heart would break.

Like other children with cancer, Carson fought so bravely through a life of endless tests, ports, chemo, fevers, steroids, nausea and fatigue. Through his battle he lost his beautiful black hair, eyebrows, eye lashed and sadly the impish twinkle in his dark eyes.

And then something wonderful happened – a wish was granted and suddenly there was excitement, anticipation and laughter. Carson and his loving family were given the trip of a lifetime!

We, as grandparents, were able to arrange our own trip down and stay close to the Village. We were welcomed and able to witness all the loving hearts and helping hands put joy back in our grandson’s life as well as his sisters, mom and dad. And after his dark hair grew back the impish twinkle returned as well!

Letterimg_Imb4Thank you for this wonderful memory of train rides, horseback rides, meeting beloved Disney characters, games, special surprises every night and, oh yes, the always open Ice Cream Palace!

We love you all,

Carson’s Family
