Miracles often happen when you least expect them. In the blink of an eye, a kind gesture from a Volunteer Angel can fill the Village with magic and wonder. Each day our amazing Volunteer Angels welcome wish families with smiling faces and helping hands, ready to make dreams into reality. Our four-legged Angels inspire the same magic in their own special way.
Volunteer Angel, Linda Heibler, loves to bring her adorable service dog, Pixie, to Give Kids The World. Together, they have witnessed many special moments at the Village. This energetic poodle rules the Avenue when she arrives, showering our wish families with kisses and affection.
“Pixie loves going to Give Kids The World. The happiness on the children’s faces while having their picture taken with Pixie is a joy for me,” says Linda. When this incredible journey began, Linda was unsure of how Pixie would be received at the Village. Pixie’s smaller stature makes her unique yet she stands out amongst the bigger service dogs thanks to her bubbly personality and festive outfits. The love for Pixie is undeniable, as children take her in their arms and hold her close to their hearts. Linda and Pixie’s Monday night visits have been “a dream come true.”
During a Monday night visit, Linda encountered a wonderful little boy who was very quiet and timid. After meeting Pixie, he was quickly enamored by her friendly personality. The little boy finally boasted enough courage to bravely ask Linda if he could walk Miss Pix. Linda happily handed over the leash.
The boy and his new friend proudly strolled up and down the Avenue, walking side by side without a care in the world. As Linda watched, the boy’s mother peered over at Linda with tears in her eyes and told her that her son hadn’t walked in months. In that moment they witnessed a true miracle.
Miracles like this transpire because of the love that graces the Village. The value of our selfless Volunteer Angels is immeasurable. We thank you, Linda and Pixie, for all your dedication to making dreams come true.
