During the month of June, wedding bells carried the sound of a joyous moment here at Give Kids The World Village. Wish parents, Felix and Jaime, celebrated 10 years of marriage by renewing their vows during their daughter, Anya’s wish trip. Mary, one of GKTW’s talented Entertainment Coordinators, helped arrange all the details to make the ceremony one the family would always remember.
The married couple adopted Anya from Russia in 2010 and this ceremony solidified her as a special and permanent part of their family. Anya carried a beautiful bouquet of white flowers decorated with sparkling rhinestones. Anya loved the creation so much that she held tightly to the arrangement throughout the majority of her wish trip, carrying it around everywhere she went.
“This ceremony was even more special than our first. It was simply magical,” Jaime noted, reflecting on the ceremony. Their wedding vows reinforced the feelings of hope and love throughout the Village. Even extended family came to visit the Village to witness the magical moment. Special guest, Mayor Clayton, made an appearance dressed in his very best. Felix, Jaime, Nick (wish brother) and Anya celebrated their love with a unity sand ceremony. This tradition celebrates the union of loved ones with the pouring of multicolored sand into one vase.
The day was made possible with the help of many selfless volunteers. Rev. Glynn Ferguson led the service, while volunteer John Russell photographed the unforgettable moments. Jessie MacDonald of Jevents assisted Mary with the wedding planning. Jennifer LeHane and Jessica Wright were on hand to decorate. Angel Tanya made the boutonnieres and Anya’s unique bouquet. Colorful and tasty cupcakes were provided by Michele Jenkins.
Those in attendance sat comfortably in seating provided by Chair Affair and Kissimmee Florist donated Jaime’s beautiful bouquet.
