HAVE IT YOUR WAY® FOUNDATION PRESENTS $300,000 DONATION to
Give Kids The World
MIAMI, April 15, 2008 – The HAVE IT YOUR WAY® Foundation, the charitable arm of the BURGER KING® brand, will donate $300,000 to Give Kids The World (GKTW), a non-profit organization in Central Florida that creates magical memories for children with life-threatening illnesses. This donation will go towards the construction of four new villas, which will allow up to 208 more families to stay at the 70-acre Give Kids The World Village® each year.
Burger King Corp.’s General Counsel and President of the HAVE IT YOUR WAY® Foundation Anne Chwat will present a check to Give Kids The World President Pamela Landwirth on Saturday May 3, 2008 at the Village in Kissimmee, Fla., near Orlando. Chwat will be joined by Ivette Diaz, director of corporate social responsibility for Burger King Corp.
"At the heart of the BURGER KING® brand is a commitment to making a difference in the communities where we live and work," said Diaz. "The HAVE IT YOUR WAY® Foundation is proud to provide funding for the construction of four new villas for Give Kids The World so we can help bring smiles to the faces of the children and their families.”
In addition to the financial donation, franchisees, Burger King Corp. employees, and vendors will also volunteer their time and efforts on May 3 and May 8 to help with refurbishing projects at the village.
"We are honored that the BURGER KING® system and the HAVE IT YOUR WAY® Foundation have embraced our mission. Their generous gift will allow many more families the opportunity to experience the magic of the Village each year," said Landwirth. “And by sharing their time, talents, and hearts through their volunteer day, the BURGER KING® family will truly touch the lives of our special guests, helping us create the happiness that inspires hope.”
