A soft blanket can produce two types of warmth. The kind that surrounds you on a chilly night, and the kind that comes from the hearts of our special volunteers and supporters. Thanks to a recent soft and snuggly donation, wish children at the Village will be able to experience both.
Pat Dennett is the proud owner of P’s and Q’s Quilt Shop in Haines City, Florida. After receiving a large amount of excess flannel, Pat began making children’s quilts for the purpose of donating them to Give Kids The World. Pat knew that this venture would be tedious so she began assembling fabric kits that her customers and students could take home and return when complete.
The compassionate spirits of Pat’s customers shined through as many were eager to help assemble the quilts. One customer, Maxine Bednarz, created over twenty for the cause. The 40-inch by 40-inch quilts were each stitched with love and care by far the largest amount of quilts P’s and Q’s Quilt Shop has ever donated at once.
Within a few months, Pat had accumulated over 90 quilts for Give Kids The World with a variety of colorful designs including sunflowers, cowboy boots and bowling pins. Marilyn, the Village’s cherished Gift Giving Angel, traveled to Haines City to retrieve this donation. The Village can now use these unique tokens of warmth for Gift Giving personalization and so much more.
P’s and Q’s Quilt Shop is already planning out how they can get their community involved in another round of quilt donations.
Thank you, Pat, for your kindness and generosity. Your efforts will bring added warmth to the Village while making our villas feel more like home for our special guests.
